IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT JOHN T. NICCOLLAI WEDNESDAY AUGUST 26, 2026

STOP & SHOP (LONG ISLAND / NEW YORK CITY) CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE

President John T. Niccollai reported today that the Stop & Shop (Long Island/New York City) Contract Negotiations Committee met with representatives of the Company on August 25, 2026, for another round of contract negotiations.

President Niccollai indicated that while positive progress is being made toward achieving a new Collective Bargaining Agreement, a number of significant issues remain outstanding that the Company has yet to realistically address, including:

  •     All full-time and part-time employees to co-pay for their medical insurance
  •     Contributions to the Pension Funds less than actuarial projections needed
  •     Wage increases that remain below those achieved in our major chain contracts

In addition to the above items, several other important issues remain unresolved, including contract language, job classifications, wage progression scales, vacation benefits, and Sunday and Holiday premiums.

Another negotiating session is scheduled for Friday, August 28, 2026, with the current Collective Bargaining Agreement set to expire on Saturday, August 29, 2026.

With very little time remaining before the expiration of the current Agreement, we hope the Company will use the remaining time wisely and come prepared with a comprehensive set of proposals that realistically address the outstanding economic and contractual issues necessary to reach an agreement worthy of ratification by our hard working members.

Again we ask our members to let management know we will not accept less than we truly deserve.

We will continue to keep the membership informed as negotiations progress.
