AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT JOHN T. NICCOLLAI AUGUST 28, 2023

FOR SHOPRITE AND RELATED COMPANY EMPLOYEES

If you worked for Village Supermarket, ShopRite Supermarkets, Wakefern, Dearborn Markets or Fresh Grocer in New York or New Jersey, you may have received a notice about a class action settlement. The case involves an underpayment of overtime due to an error in the company’s payroll software program. The company discovered the error and corrected it before the lawsuit was filed. The Union had no notice of the error and no way to discover this and we will now ask for a request for information concerning the matter.

The company has agreed to settle the class action lawsuit. The settlement has yet to be approved by the court. At this point, you have the option to opt out of the settlement in order to pursue your own claims independently or file objections to the settlement. There are deadlines for taking either action. If you take no action now and the settlement is approved by the court, you should receive information in the future as to how to file a claim to obtain a portion of the settlement proceeds. We project that the settlement amount is not substantial on an individual basis. For more information, please visit www.WakefernSettlement.com.
